I spent quite a bit of time exploring Technorati on my own. In short it's a major depot of millions of blogs that you can explore through keywords and tags. Some notes, though:
The site has changed big time since the informational video was created (2006, I think). Doesn't look or function the same. The exercise on searching via blogposts, tags, and blog directory isn't the same as in the video...you can't make a specific choice, just search by keywords.
The blogpost on Tags opened to the second page of the text...click on "1" at the top of the page to read this article correctly (I didn't, though it really didn't change anything).
I'm not really sure how the huge expanse of Technorati could help me specifically, although I did join and, at least, tried to "claim my blog" so that it would be registered with them. I do like organizing materials with tags, and am learning what the most popular, and therefore effective, tags are being used for subjects that interest me.
Hope you enjoy Technorati, but it's really an independent study!
P.S. my claim went through, and I'm on Technorati...even found out my "rank" (whatever that is): 3, 184, 338. Wow!

Molto bene! Love the new look! Did you think this was hard to re-design or not? I think this new background suits you to a tee! Now about technorati, thanks so much for the heads-up and little details of what to expect as I hope to work on that in the next couple of days. Figure I'm halfway through and a month to go, so that's good. I think this has been a valuable experience and hope that everyone else in our little group is enjoying it the same. Wish we had more Dallas folks but we can spread the word...

I have been wondering how many of our LL team are exploring; so far I have you two, Patricia, Marty, and Kathey. R there others? I'd like to check out their blogs!
ReplyDeleteI suspect we will be jealous of you all (since most of you have added them)...the new designs are something aren't they? and you probably get to enjoy them on campus.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, they are one of the few things blocked in our district, so my librarians and the few teachers who have embraced them are very sad when their blogs show up "naked" in district!
We have started a conversation about getting the site opened, but so far....
I will send a list of LL blogs thru email although I think it's vicki that has a pretty complete list on her side bar?
I confess that remembering to add tags to my post is always an afterthought or a neverthought. Your blog entry is a good reminder to me--thanks!
