The video by Mr. Goodner was terrific! I found myself taking notes as everything was so organized and linear. Afterwards it was easy to follow my notes and create a simple Rollyo search area on instruments of the orchestra called Instrument Exploration. Here's the link http://rollyo.com/...just choose Instrument Exploration, type in an orchestral instrument (like bassoon) and it goes to the Philharmonia Orchestra's two sites where info on the instrument is available (including videos on how it is played).
As explained so well, this tool is a great way to create some research limits for students. The teacher selects the sites for exploration, and the students can easily explore the sites for learning. This is a really intuitive and easy tool for teachers. It's one of the highlights I'll be showing my grade level team this fall.

Claude, I know nothing about Rollyo but after reading this post, I want to skip to this Thing! Again, thank you for the wonderful motivation you provide. I appreciate it so much. BTW, we have a few more Lamplighter folks joining us... Two are on my blogroll: Melissa has started a blog of her trip to Switzerland "Meine Gedanken..." but it's not a 23 Things one. Elizabeth blogged about her time in Peru "This is the stuff..." but intends to do 23 with us, along with Rinda!
ReplyDeleteClaude, I just explored Rollyo this morning, and as expected from your preview, I really liked it, too. What do you think is the best way to spread our enthusiasm about these new tools -- one-by-one, to teams, or some big splash "taste" overview to the whole faculty?
ReplyDeleteClaude, great review, and I agree, it is a site we could put to good use in the classroom.
